The characters were based in a very stereotypical housing state in Essex. With the mouthy 15 year old whom couldn't reason with people, but could in the sense she had emotion. The mother came across as a mum whom had Mia when she was pretty young. How she treats her as if she isn't part of her life and that she wants to enjoy her life without having to care for her children to an extent, showing not much of a motherly figure, depsite though helping Mia get into a school, which the youngest daughter phrased it as "A place full of retarded skanks".
The film represents british females as being short tempered, being very two faced, being very sexually charged. You see two scenes of a sexual nature in this film, both showing Connor having sex with the mother of Mia and also with Mia.
The locations represent a sense of restriction. This restriction is personified by how everyone is very angry and short tempered throughout the film. Connor although living in a nice area of Essex in Tilbury is more relaxed and knows how to unwind which makes him more relaxed as an individual.
