Collective Idenity Theory - Alfie

SHELDON STRYKER:

Family Values: Women were expected to be married and have a family to have a baby, not take the pill or modern contraception, not have affairs and be a mother as their job, be treated with less respect. This are shown in several clips with in the film: Woman hiding affair/ Alfie parades it about, Lady has to put second name so doesn't look like she is actually single - which is frowned upon.
Masculinity: This is also shown very well in the scene between Alfie and his friends, where they start questioning his masculinity because he has a woman cooking and cleaning for him. This is what men were meant to believe as they wanted to be masculine...which conceives of not being told what to do, living on their own and being total 'men'!

ALTHUSSER:

Relationships: This is shown by Alfie who constantly describes and is proud of being the type of relationships and others that were happening in Britain at that time. This is through out the film at several different points when he talks to the camera.

MARCUSE:

Changing Role Of Women: The viewer of this era (2010) sees the film and just takes in the information that women were treated that way, as it doesn't happen as much or as severe. They become mindless as we are less mentally challenged now so we are used to watching quite boring and passive films of today.
