Gilda. Family Values.
Became pregnant out of wedlock with Alfie. She was then going to give her son away once he was born but then changed her mind. Alfie wasn't willing to marry her or be a constant father figure in his sons life, only at weekends. So she married a man who loved her but she didnt love him however respected him.
Marcuse's Theory- She didn't have the perscribed attitude that the media carry out as she was pregnant out of wedlock and worked, which wasn't the norm for women of this time.
Althusser's Theory - She realised that being pregnant out of wedlock was frowned apon and so she decided to marry a man who she didn't love just to conform to this (Bus Conductor).
Stryker's Theory - She got the baby baptised which societies expectations that every child was baptised so she felt that she had to live up to this.
