- The film An Education was produced by BBC Films in the UK and Endgame Entertainment in the US. It was distributed by E1 Entertainment and Sony Pictures Classic in the US.
- The budget for the film was $7.5 million
- The film was premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in America on the 18th January 2009. It was then released in the UK on the 20th October 2009. It may have been released at an early date in the USA as they have the biggest cinema going population and if the film was successful there then we would hear about it in the UK
- It was nominated for an Oscar for Best Motion Picture of the Year and Carey Mulligan won a BAFTA for Best Leading Actress. This would have helped market the film as they would have shown these awards on the advertisements such as posters and bill boards and also would have put it on the DVD cover.
- An Education was released at 763 theaters
