The particular scene we are looking at is: when Gilda's youngest son is being christened and Alfie is seen looking over as Gilda's recently wedded husband Humphrey takes on the fatherly role.
Sheldon Stryker implies that other people in society effect or identity. Where being societies expectations reinforce and affect actions that individuals take. This theory is evident in this scene as although Gilda isn't genuinely in love with Humphrey, she has merely settled down with him in order to conform to societies expectations. Humphrey is seen to be taking the main father role model within the family replacing alfie's position therefore complying to the traditional gender roles within the family during this particular period.
Althusser implies that the media portrays the particular representation that children should be christened and part of a traditional family. during this clip we witness alfie overlooking this stereotypical representation of a 60's family.
