Changing Role of Women

The clip we have chosen is: Where Alfie and Gilder have an argument over her keeping the baby and getting a new job to support him.

Sheldon Stryker:

His theory can be seen in this clip because Gilder is expected to keep the baby and wants to keep the baby but Alfie is trying to talk her out of it though it is society's expectations to keep the baby.

Althusser:

His theory can be see in this clip because guilder recgonises thats she is the childs mother and is expected to keep the baby and marry the father because which is what society expects.

Marcuse:

His theory can be seen in this clip as he mentions that media carry certain emotional reactions which can be shown through Gilder getting a job and looking after the baby, pretty much on her own. This would trigger emotion as its quite sad as she would normally have a husband who would help out instead of having a guy like Alfie.
